Wedding at the historical Olowalu Plantation House in Lahaina, Hawaii

The natural beauty of this charming oceanfront wedding venue provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable Maui celebration for Ashley and Lucien.

Greenery, earth tones, and blush King Protea florals paired with the natural wood, rattan and pineapple textiles. Erica and her team from Couture Events designed and executed a gorgeous event.

Ashley was radiant in a custom Grace Loves Lace wedding gown with pearl earrings. Lucien donned a custom Indochino suit with a special embroidery on the inside in memory of his late cousin, “I can and I will”. The bridesmaids in sleek satin Park & Fifth dresses, and groomsmen in matching suits made for a very fashionable wedding party.

Meeting at the altar was highly anticipated by the bride and groom. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis played as Ashley and her father made their entrance. The traditional lei exchange, in front of the driftwood arch with Reverend Laki Kaahumanu, was a very special part of the ceremony.

Garnish Maui prepared signature drinks at the cocktail reception including, “the Lotus”, “Road to Hana” and “Old Hawaiian”, served in vintage gold rimmed glassware courtesy of Set Maui.

The newlyweds especially enjoyed their intimate sunset photoshoot, portrait session, and short stroll beachside. Their family and guests were ecstatic to witness humpback whales passing by Olowalu.

Cutting Edge Catering provided traditional luau themed dishes, and delicious cinnamon malasadas with lilikoi curd and chocolate haupia tarts for dessert.

Guests enjoyed hula and fire dancers, drummers and music performed by the talented Manutea Nui E team. The popular Ululani’s served up a yummy Hawaiian Shave Ice experience.

Ashley and Lucien’s advice for all couples, “At some point during your wedding, step back and take a moment for just the two of you. Everyone is there celebrating your love! It’s such a wonderful feeling. Really soak in that moment.”

When asked about working with Rodrigo Moraes Photography: “Rodrigo is so personable with a great smile! On such a nerve-wracking day he kept us both at ease. Rodrigo’s just a lovely individual and he felt like a guest at our wedding.”

It was a pleasure shooting this wedding, with so many great people involved, at one of my favorite Maui venues.
