Zak and Liz's engagement shoot at Po'olenalena Beach Park (also known as Paipu Beach) is a perfect example of why this spot is a favorite for couples' photos. The beach looks amazing, with palm trees and the ocean in the background, and it definitely lived up to the hype in these pictures. This session captured Zak and Liz's real connection and the park's natural beauty.
Liz and Zak's story began in 2017 with a right swipe on Bumble. Balancing busy schedules, Liz, a third-year medical student, and Zak, in his final year of radiology residency in St. Louis, Missouri, found an undeniable connection. Fast forward six years, and their love for adventure led them to a beautiful Colorado hike, where Zak popped the question in July 2023. Currently residing in St. Louis, Zak practices radiology while Liz takes on her final year of orthopedic surgery residency, with plans for further specialized training in Salt Lake City, Utah. Despite demanding schedules, their passion for travel and the outdoors, particularly hiking, brought them to Maui for their engagement session.
Paipu Beach: A Dreamy Backdrop for Maui Engagement Photos
Po'olenalena Beach Park, a.k.a Paipu Beach, is a photographer's paradise for couple's shoots. The sand is soft, palm trees everywhere, and the endless blue Pacific Ocean goes as far as the eye can see. Classic Maui vibes! The beach has all sorts of neat areas for pics, from the beach itself to lava rock tide pools for a bit of an adventurous touch. And the sunsets here are so romantic. No wonder it's a favorite spot to capture love!
Liz and Zak, fellow adventurers who stumbled upon my work on Instagram, were stoked to capture their engagement photos on Maui's shores. Luckily, the beach was practically deserted, and the sunset delivered its usual Maui magic!
